Description
WEG CFW500 KPCSF Installation, Configuration and Operation Guide
The WEG CFW500 G2 variable frequency drive is a compact machinery drive for speed and torque control of three-phase induction and permanent magnet motors. The second-generation CFW500 uses a plug-and-play module concept, so OEMs, panel builders, and system integrators can choose the I/O and fieldbus options each machine needs. Step-by-step guided start-up and an intuitive built-in keypad help simplify commissioning in applications such as pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers, extruders, and winding machines.
Key Features
- IP20 enclosure for control panel installation, with an optional NEMA 1 kit available per frame size
- Control modes include scalar V/f, VVW voltage vector, sensorless vector, closed-loop vector with encoder, and VVW PM for permanent magnet motors
- 0 to 500 Hz output frequency
- Normal duty rating with 110% overload for 60 seconds and heavy duty rating with 150% overload for 60 seconds
- Standard CFW500-IOS plug-in module provides 4 isolated digital inputs, 1 analog input, 1 analog output, 1 relay output with NO/NC contact, and 1 transistor output
- Built-in RS485 Modbus-RTU on every plug-in module
- Optional plug-in modules add CANopen, DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP, PROFINET IO, RS232, USB, encoder input, or expanded I/O
- Prepared for the optional CFW500-SFY2 safety module, which adds Safe Torque Off (STO) and Safe Stop 1 (SS1-t) functions
- Built-in SoftPLC for custom logic, programmed with free WEG software
- Pump Genius Simplex, Multipump, and Multiplex functions for dedicated pumping control
- Available with or without an internal dynamic braking transistor, depending on model
- Frame sizes F and G include built-in DC bus chokes
- Built-in LCD keypad displays up to three user-selected variables at once, with optional remote keypads for enclosure door mounting
- Optional CFW500-MMF flash memory module copies settings between drives without powering them up
- Standard 3C2 conformal coating per IEC 60721-3-3, with optional 3C3 coating for environments with corrosive gases
- Quick-change fan design for simple maintenance
- Rated ambient temperature of 40°C to 50°C, depending on frame size
- Protection against output short circuit, ground fault, undervoltage, overvoltage, heatsink overtemperature, and motor overload
- 100% of drives are factory tested under full load and maximum temperature
