Burner & Combustion Systems

When you're intentionally creating fire inside industrial equipment, having the right controls matters.

Burner management and combustion control systems work behind the scenes to safely start, monitor, control, and shut down burners while maintaining the heat your process requires.

Whether you're building new combustion equipment or upgrading an existing system, we can help with the controls that keep the heat on, and shut it off when it shouldn't be.

3 Quick Facts

1. Fire Needs Permission

Before ignition, a burner management system checks that required conditions are met and equipment is ready to fire.

2. Purge Before Ignition

Industrial combustion systems commonly use a purge sequence to move fresh air through the combustion chamber before lighting the burner.

3. Always Watching the Flame

Flame detection verifies that a flame is present when it should be. If the flame is lost, the BMS can shut off fuel to bring the burner to a safe state.

What Does a Burner Management System Do?

CHECK → PURGE → IGNITE → MONITOR → SHUT DOWN

A Burner Management System (BMS) acts as the safety supervisor for the burner. It verifies that conditions are safe, manages the startup and ignition sequence, monitors the flame and other safety conditions while the burner is operating, and shuts off fuel if something goes wrong.

BMS vs. Combustion Control: What's the Difference?
A BMS focuses on safe burner operation, while a Combustion Control System (CCS) controls the actual combustion process, including things like firing rate, fuel-to-air ratio, and temperature. They work together to provide safe, efficient heat.
