Eye to the Sky, Did You See the Wolf Moon?

Eye to the Sky, Did You See the Wolf Moon?

Posted by Theresa Hoffman on Jan 21st 2025

It happens every January: the first full moon of the month, known as the Wolf Moon. This name originates from the howling of wolves, which was more prevalent during the winter months when food sources were scarce.

Based on the folklore of Native Americans and Europeans, the Wolf Moon reflects how these cultures observed and interpreted the natural world around them.

A few nights ago, our accounts payable specialist, Therese, and her husband captured amazing pictures of the Wolf Moon. This wasn't just any full moon; it was a unique event. If you look closely at the photos, you can see Mars disappearing behind the moon – a lunar occultation of Mars!

Thank you so much Therese for sharing these amazing pictures!
