Temperature Sensors

(a.k.a. thermocouple, RTD, infrared t/c, thermostat, bulb and capillary thermostat)

The basics: a temperature sensor is used for temperature measurement through an electrical signal. Generally they are measuring heat to make sure the process stays within a range or meets conditions that are necessary for an application to continue. Infrared sensors measure surface temperatures ranging from -70 to 1,000°C and are usually used when thermocouples cannot handle the application. Bulb and capillary thermostats use expanding liquid to open or close contacts in response to temperature changes.
