Solid State Relays

(a.k.a. SSR, hockey puck, DIN rail relay heatsink, terminal block SSR)

The basics: a solid state relay switches on or off when external voltage is applied across the control terminals. These electronic switching devices have no moving parts and can be designed to switch either AC or DC to the load. Solid state relays are great for high-speed, high-frequency applications and generate little noise.
