    Disconnect Switches

    (a.k.a. motor disconnect switch, local motor disconnect, load break switch, disconnector, isolater switch )

    The basics: a disconnect switch is used to make sure that the electrical circuit is de-energeized for service or maintenance. Every motor is supposed to have a local disconnect and usually a disconnect switch must be in sight of a motor or manufacturing equipment.
