The FHDK 04 is the newest addition to the family of background suppression optical sensors from Baumer Electric. The smallest dimensions, 4mm x 6mm x 45mm, combined with the highest precision make the FHDK 04 an attractive supplement to fiber optic sensors.
The FHDK 04 is highly efficient and offers precise background suppression. The directed-beam property permits even the smallest objects to be reproducibly detected at distances of up to 50 mm. Detection is independent of the object's color or surface characteristics, including dirt. Several sensors can operate next to one another without any optical interference or cross-talk between them.
As a further highlight, the FHDK 04 also supports the IO-Link communication standard and is thus perfectly positioned for future requirements. The FHDK 04 is available in fixed sensing distances of 30 mm or 50 mm. Possible applications include:
Diffuse sensors with background suppressionDiffuse sensors with background or foreground suppression which work with triangulation do not only sense the light reflected from the target, but also sense the distance of the object to the sensor. In the diagram above the receiver R1 receives the light from the object T1 and R2 from the background. Within the fully adjustable distance, objects which are at least as big as the diameter of the light beam are recognized independently of color and surface properties (minimal reflectivity of 6 %). The background distance should be at least 10% larger than the sensing distance.
